Cultivating Civic Literacy in After-school Music Education—Experience and Enlightenment of the"Finnish Music Campus"in the City of Jyväskylä in Finland
The national core curriculum in Finland regards"cultural competence and interactive expression","professional competence and entrepreneurial spirit",and"social participation and building a sustainable future"as civic literacy that span all disciplines.These literacy goals are not only listed as the value foundation of art education in Finnish schools,but also become the principle and value pursuit of after-school art education in Finland.The article focuses on the music discipline of art education,and presents a case study of curriculum,teaching,and social services of the"Finnish Music Campus"in the City of Jyväskylä in Finland.It analyzes the practical experience of cultivating civic literacy in Finnish public institutions for after-school music education,which include building a good music environment to enrich civic cultural life,connecting on-campus and off-campus resources to achieve public resources sharing,balancing music general education and music professional courses,and cultivating learners'abilities in listening,expression,interactive cooperation,cultural understanding,career development,community participation,and public welfare services.Based on this,the article explores the possibility of cultivating civic literacy and public spirit through after-school music education in China.
