Using Extracurricular Education Resources to Facilitate the High-quality Development of After-school Services in Rural Schools——A Case Study of X Primary School in the Central Region of a Southeastern Coastal Province of China
After-school services in rural schools generally face issues such as limited resources and insufficient functions.Extracurricular education has advantages in meeting educational needs,integrating educational resources,and enhancing service effectiveness.It offers a feasible approach to improving the supply of after-school service resources and promoting high-quality development.This paper conducts a qualitative case study on X Primary School,located in the central region of a southeastern coastal province of China.The study analyzes the"disembedded"predicament of X Primary School's after-school services and proposes pathways for leveraging extracurricular education resources to enhance the quality of these services in rural schools.These pathways include supplementing after-school service contents,providing teacher training,drawing on extracurricular education evaluation experiences,and encouraging the participation of high-quality extracurricular educators in after-school services.
