As one of the isoenzymes of pyruvate kinase,PKM2 plays an important role in the physiological and pathological processes of cardiovascular system.The expression of PKM2 is significantly increased in ischemic injured heart,which can protect cardiomyocytes from ischemic injury by regulating cardiomyocyte cycle,inhibiting apoptosis and promoting angiogenesis.PKM2 treatment for myocardial ischemia is a promising strategy that may provide new treatment options for patients.
