Surgical ablation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation(AF)has a clear survival benefit and is increasingly used in the treatment of AF.This article reviews recent studies related to surgical ablation pathways,energy sources,and adjunctive therapeutic techniques,and outlines the recent advances and controversies in the current types of surgery for AF,with the aim of informing the development of an optimal strategy for surgical treatment of AF.
