Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death in humans. The exosomes released by endothelial cells transmit the biomolecules and influence the course of cardiovascular disease through signal transduction.Mitochondria as the power source of cells, when dysfunction, will lead to ATP production disorders and a variety of cardiovascular diseases. This article reviews the recent progress of exosomes and mitochondrial functions in cardiovascular diseases from the aspects of the effects of exosomes derived from endothelial cells on cardiovascular diseases and the role of mitochondrial functions regulated by exosomes in cardiovascular disease models.
