Atherosclerosis(AS)is an important pathological basis for various cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.Versican,a multifunctional proteoglycan,is a glycoprotein present in the extracellular matrix. In recent years, numerous studies have explored the relationship between AS and Versican. This review summarizes the mechanisms by which Versican regulates the onset and progression of AS,including promoting early lipid accumulation, participating in inflammatory responses, and regulating thrombosis formation. These findings provide new perspectives for early intervention and targeted therapy in AS.
