Kidney is one of the main organs involved in hyperuricemia, and hyperuricemic nephropathy is one of the common clinical complications of hyperuricemia.Since serum uric acid levels increase with the decrease of glomerular filtration rate, hyperuricemia was previously considered a marker of renal injury.Recent studies have shown that hyperuricemia is an independent risk factor for the development and progression of renal disease, and the causal relationship between hyperuricemia and renal injury has been controversial. In recent years, more and more studies have shown that hyperuricemia can lead to renal injury by inducing oxidative stress, inflammatory response, endothelial dysfunction, renal fibrosis and so on.Based on the metabolism of uric acid and the etiology of hyperuricemia, this article reviews the research progress on the pathogenesis of hyperuricemic nephropathy.
