Has the Family Education Guidance Services Increased Parental Involvement of Left-behind Children?An Empirical Analysis Based on Hubei Province
Improving the involvement of parents of left-behind children is conducive to promoting the healthy development of left-behind children,and the involvement of parents of left-behind children depends on both parents'active input and external support. Based on an empirical survey in 17 cities (prefectures and dis-tricts) in Hubei Province,the results using the propensity score matching method show that the involvement of parents of left-behind children is significantly lower than that of parents of non-left-behind children,and the family education guidance service can significantly increase the involvement of parents of left-behind children,but the promotion effect varies within the group of parents of left-behind children. Schools should actively play a leading role in family education guidance services to ensure a basic field for the involvement of left-behind children's parents,accurately provide support for family education guidance services based on the educational needs of different left-behind children's families,and promote the involvement of left-behind children's parents and the development of their family's abilities by enhancing the professionalism of the family education guid-ance service team.
