Selection and application of atomizing agents for slim low temperature heated cigarettes
[Background]This study aims to alleviate the problems existing in slim heated cigarettes, such as significant sensory differences during smoking, poor persistence of volatile characteristic flavors, and considerable variation in the release of main components from puff to puff.[Methods]The circumferential heating temperature of the device was reduced to below 200 ℃,and atomizing agents were selected for evaluation. The release of carbonyl compounds, the impact of atomizing agents on the uniformity of smoke release, and sensory assessment were examined.[Results]Test data show:1)For the slim heated cigarettes, when heated at 150-200℃,the suitable atomizing agents are 1,2-propylene glycol and 1,3-butanediol.2)As the average heating temperature decreased from 220℃to 170℃,the content of low-molecular-weight volatile carbonyls decreased significantly, with formaldehyde decreasing by up to 81%.3)Reducing the heating temperature and selecting suitable atomizing agents are beneficial to improving the uniformity of aerosol release.Meanwhile, the combination of atomizing agents that meets the requirements of moderate smoke volume, weak chemical smell, and good uniformity includes 1,2-propylene glycol,1,3-butanediol,and glycerol in a ratio of 1∶1∶1.[Conclusion]Although reducing the heating temperature may lead to a decrease in the release of tobacco aroma components, the uniformity and persistence of the aroma are improved.
