Study on the retention effect of three HTPs base rods based on the cigarette lose mass
This study aims to investigate the impact of HTPs(Heated Tobacco Products)base rods material on smoke emission quality.Based on the Cigarette Loss Mass(CLM)measurement device for heating cigarettes, commercially available heating cigarettes were selected.Reference samples were made by cutting the tobacco section and adding a smoke connection section.Test samples were made by adding rods of different lengths or materials to the reference samples.Using the ISO standard smoking regime, the change in CLM per puff was measured for both reference and test samples. The retention rate was calculated as the reduction rate of CLM for test samples relative to reference samples The results show that:① The relative standard deviation of the reference sample from the first puff is 5.92%,and the maximum relative standard deviation from the second puff to the sixth puff is 3.39%.The smoke emission quality of the selected commercially HTPs is relatively stable.②As the length of the base rod increased from 5mm to 20mm,the retention rates of hollow base rod,PLA base rod and vinegar fiber base rod increased by 7.49%,21.56%and 17.09%,respectively.The retention rate followed the order:hollow base rod<vinegar fiber base rod<PLA base rod;③ The retention rate per puff showed a decreasing trend after 20 mm for PLA rods and 10 mm for cellulose acetate rods.
