Effect of low dose esketamine on incidence and severity of postoperative nausea and vomiting in orthognathic surgery patients
Objective To investigate the effect of low dose esketamine on incidence and severity of postoperative nausea and vomiting in orthognathic surgery patients.Method A total of 75 patients undergoing orthognathic surgery admitted to Beijing Stomatology Hospital,Capital Medical University from January to July 2023 were selected as the study objects.They were divided into control group[intravenous administration of 0.25 mg/(kg·h)normal saline before incision,38 cases]and observation group[intravenous administration of 0.25 mg/(kg·h)esketamine before incision,37 cases]by random number table method.The incidence and severity of postoperative nausea and vomiting 48 h after surgery were compared between the two groups.The dosage of anesthesia drugs in perioperative period and the agitation and pain in 24 h after surgery were compared between the two groups.Result The incidence of nausea and vomiting 48 h after surgery in observation group was lower than that in control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of moderate to severe nausea and vomiting 48 h after surgery in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no statistical significances in the perioperative dosage of remifentanil,the dosage of propofol and the incidence of agitation 24 h after surgery between the two groups(P>0.05).The visual analog score 24 h after surgery in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Low dose esketamine can reduce the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in orthognathic surgery patients,and reduce the severity of postoperative nausea and vomiting,and significantly relieve postoperative pain in patients,which is worthy of clinical application.
