Explanation of the Potential Characteristics of the World Intangible Cultural Heritage of Chinese Eight Scenes Culture
Based on the outline of the intangible cultural heritage characteristics formulated by Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture,this paper elaborates on the inheritance,characteristics and significant values of the Chinese Eight Scenes culture,analyzed the survival of the Chinese Eight Scenes culture,the physical places and the protection status,and proposes ideas for the protection and inheritance of the Chinese Eight Scenes culture from three levels:government,science and education,and industry.It is believed that the Eight Scenes is a huge system of material and immaterial cultural knowledge composed of scenic entities,together with poems,pictures,and writings in histories.The original thought suggests that the Eight Scenes are the result of the universe view of"Tao follows nature"and the space-time view of"the sky is round and the land is round",which are fused by"man must seek harmony with nature"of Confucianism and Taoism.It puts forward five characteristics of the Eight Scenes:high publicity,regional representation,space-time equilibrium,auspicious timing and auspiciousness,as well as continuous creativity.The inheritance group of the Eight Scenes is composed of feudal emperors,local officials and scholars,as well as the public.The Eight Scenes is a unique contribution of the Chinese civilization to human civilization in the field of urban landscape planning and construction in terms of theory,methods and practice,and is a great heritage with great potential to impact the world's intangible cultural heritage.
