Urban Landscape Tourism:Morphological Optimization Research on the Central Area of Riverside and Lakeside City
The central area of the riverside and lakeside city, characterized by the integration of natural and urban forms, possesses the unique features of expansive water bodies, free vantage points, circular panoramic views, and extensive sightlines. As a typical type of waterfront central area, the focus of current research lies in the design optimization leveraging the dual characteristics of the riverside and lakeside. This paper centers on the central area of the riverside and lakeside city, categorizing its landscape elements into four distinct features:expansive foreground, dynamic viewing, circular panorama, and unobstructed sightlines, based on a review of relevant domestic and international studies.Subsequently, the paper proposes the optimization of landmark high-rises,viewing interfaces, and landscape sightlines from the perspectives of focal views, overlapping views, and transparent views.Using the central area of Wanzhou in Chongqing as a case study, the paper demonstrates the design optimization of the waterfront interface, rational layout of landmark buildings based on function and type, and the creation of a super viewing corridor within the urban landscape, aiming to provide design methods and strategic references for the morphological optimization of the central area of riverside and lakeside cities, and to enhance the quality of urban spatial environments.
