Quantitative Assessment of Landscape Catalytic Effect of Urban Open Space:A Case Study of Chongqing City
Open space is vital to urban renewal, providing multiple functions and generating plural values, while promoting spontaneous public participation and driving the surroundings to continuous autonomous renewal, thus producing twice the result with half the effort. To give full play to this advantage, this paper introduces the urban catalyst theory, uses multi-source data and multiple methods to measure the comprehensive performance of open space in terms of landscape catalytic effect, establishes a quantitative assessment system of open space landscape catalytic effect in dynamic, space, and time dimensions, and conducts an empirical study in Chongqing,China. The results show that the assessment system thoroughly reveals the current service level and future development problems of open space at different scales from the perspectives of development dynamics, substantial effectiveness, and sustainability, and its application provides a decision basis for urban renewal approaches using open space as a structure.
