Greenways play an important role in urban ecological and living environment, the well-being of residents, and high-quality urban development. As China has been implementing greenway construction for over 10 years, carrying out a comprehensive evaluation of the supply level of built greenways will help to understand the overall current condition of greenway supply, identify existing problems, and provide scientific guidance for future greenway construction.Taking the built greenways in main urban area of Nanjing as an example, this study proposes an applicable evaluation system from three aspects:ecological protection, transportation connection, and leisure and recreation, using Analytic Hierarchy Process.Based on on-site and online data, the spatial distribution characteristics of greenway supply level are evaluated under the process of"single factor, multi factor and overall".Then based on existing problems, five targeted optimization strategies are proposed, including connecting ecological patches, building a greenway circulation system for life circle, improving internal service facilities,etc..
