A Study on the Children's Utilization of Activity Grounds in Community Parks under the Theory of Environment-behavior Relationship:A Case Study of Landianchang Community Park,Haidian District,Beijing
Community parks are places where children's outdoor activities often take place, which play a cornerstone role in the construction of child-friendly cities. In the study of child-friendly outdoor activity environments, the reflection of children's needs is inadequate.Based on the theory of environment-behavior,this study establishes a model of"built environment-perception-children's behavior-built environment",trying to infer children's needs through children's behaviors, and then proposes the design of child-friendly community parks. This study selects Landianchang Community Park in Beijing as a case to investigate the spatio-temporal characteristics, behavioral preferences, and spatial needs of children's activities in community parks through field observation, behavioral annotation and qualitative interviews. The study finds that children's outdoor activities have the characteristics of age differentiation, diversified needs, and the need for comfortable experience, among which the use of sports activities deserves extra attention, and the design of community parks should fully consider the needs above.
