Identification of Priority Areas for Urban Heat Mitigation Based on Circuit Theory:A Case Study of Chongqing's Central City
The causes of urban heat island effect in the central areas of megacities are complex.Identifying the patches that have a key impact on the urban heat island effect and applying cooling measures to the most needed places can help reduce costs and increase efficiency in controlling high temperatures.Taking the central urban area of Chongqing as an example, based on the remote sensing images to invert the surface temperature, the urban cold and heat island sources are identified by integrating the MSPA analysis and landscape connectivity assessment. The cold and heat island networks are constructed, and the pinch points, barrier points and high centrality source patches are identified by using the circuit theory,so as to locate the priority areas for urban high temperature control. The results show that there are 22 cold island networks in the study area, including 6 important corridors, and 90 heat island networks, including 78 important corridors. The priority areas for high temperature control identified based on the cold and heat island networks include 78.35 km2 of heat island obstacle points,13.88 km2 of heat island pinch points,4 key heat source patches with a total area of 578.13 km2,29.83 km2 of cold island obstacle points,3.98 km2 of cold island pinch points, and 2 key cold source patches with a total area of 974.31 km2.The research results have guiding and reference value for the identification of priority areas for high temperature control and the subsequent targeted ecological restoration planning in the central urban area of Chongqing.
