Influence of DRG on the Efficiency of Medical Services——An Empirical Analysis Based on DID Model
Objective:The paper examines the actual impact of DRG policy on the efficiency of medical service. Methods:Based on the panel data on the public medical institutions in Sanming City from 2014 to 2022,the average length of stay for discharged patients, the number of admissions per 100 outpatient and emergency service, and the bed utilization rate were used to measure the efficiency of medical services, and the DID method was used to explore the impact of DRG policy on the efficiency of medical services. Results:Baseline regression results and robustness verification showed that the implementation of DRG policy can significantly improve medical service efficiency, and it was found that medical service efficiency is improved by reducing medical expenses. However, the impact of DRG policy on medical service efficiency has a marginal effect and the improving effect is not long-lasting.Conclusion:The DRG policy can improve the efficiency of medical services. It is suggested to focus on improving the efficiency of medical services and enhancing the quality of medical services under the DRG payment method reform, emphasize the long-term coherence of DRG's policy effects and strengthen regulatory efforts, improve DRG supporting measures and optimize the allocation of medical resources, and give full play to the advantages of DRG and promote the construction of medical consortia.
