Observation of the Efficacy of Guaishoutang Combined with Danshen Tablets in the Treatment of Rosacea
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of Guashi Decoction combined with Danshen tablets in the treatment of rosacea acne.Methods A total of 90 patients with rosacea acne characterized by Yin asthenia generating intrinsic heat combined with blood stasis,admitted to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Qingyang City,from June 2021 to June 2023,were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the different treatment regimens.Each group consisted of 45 cases.The control group received conventional drug therapy(topical metronidazole gel + oral doxycycline capsules),while the study group received Guashi Decoction combined with Danshen tablets on the basis of conventional treatment.Both groups were treated for 8 weeks.The therapeutic efficacy,subjective and objective symptom scores,skin barrier function score,Rosacea Quality of Life(RosaQoL)score,and occurrence of adverse reactions were observed in both groups of patients.Results The research group achieved a total effective rate of 93.33% ,which was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,both subjective symptom scores and objective skin lesion scores(flushing,erythema,telangiectasia,papules and pustules)were significantly reduced in both groups.However,the research group had lower scores for subjective symptoms and objective skin lesions compared to the control group(P<0.05).Furthermore,after treatment,Trans Epidermal Water Loss(TEWL)in both groups significantly decreased,while the moisture content of the stratum corneum significantly increased(P<0.05).The research group had a TEWL and higher moisture content of the stratum corneum compared to the control group(P<0.05)after treatment.Additionally,the scores for each dimension and the total score of the RosaQoL(Rose quality of life)scale significantly decreased in both groups after treatment.However,the research group had lower scores for each dimension and the total score of the RosaQoL scale compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of Gua Shi Tang and Dan Shen Pian is effective in treating rose acne characterized by yin deficiency,internal heat,and blood stasis.It can significantly alleviate symptoms,improve the condition of the skin,enhance the quality of life,and is highly safe.
