Laser-assisted CSF orthodontic force reduction for periodontitis-affected teeth:a related study
Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism of laser-assisted circumferential supracrestal fibrotomy(Circumferential supracrestal fiberotomy,CSF)on the treatment of periodontitis teeth with orthodontic intrusion. Methods Sixty-eight patients with periodontitis who underwent orthodontic treatment in Kaifeng Stomatological Hospital from June 2020 to April 2022 were selected and divided into test group(laser-assisted CSF)and control group(no CSF)according to whether they underwent laser-assisted CSF.The periodontal index, attachment loss, intrabony root length,crown-root ratio and other indicators,as well as the morphology of periodontal tissue and the expression levels of bone metabolism-related factors(BMP-2,RUNX2,RANKL,OPG)were compared between the two groups. Results After orthodontic intrusion, the test group showed significant reduction in periodontal index, attachment loss, significant increase in intrabony root length, significant improvement in crown-root ratio, significant increase in bone formation factors and significant decrease in bone resorption factors in periodontal tissue, compared with the control group, the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion Laser-assisted CSF can effectively improve the periodontal condition and appearance of periodontitis teeth with orthodontic intrusion, increase intrabony root length, reduce attachment loss, and its mechanism may be related to promoting bone formation and inhibiting bone resorption in periodontal tissue.
