Application effect evaluation of self-ligating brackets and orthodontics in patients with maxillofacial deformities
Objective To evaluate the application effect of self-ligating brackets and orthodontics in patients with maxillofacial deformities. Methods Retrospective analysis of 102 patients with orthodontic orthodontics from January 2020 to January 2023 in our hospital, according to the treatment method, divided into metal bracket group(n=51)and self-locking bracket group(n=51).The metal bracket group was treated with metal bracket appliances, and the self-ligating bracket group was treated with self-ligating bracket appliances. The treatment effect, before and after treatment periodontal indices[gingival index(GI),gingival sulcus bleeding index(SBI)],and biochemical indices of gingival crevice fluid[glutamate dehydrogenase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP)]were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the self-ligating bracket group(96.08%,49/51)was higher than that of the metal bracket group(76.47%,39/51)(P<0.05).GI and SBI in the self-ligating bracket group were lower than those in the metal bracket group after treatment(P<0.05).AST and ALP in the self-ligating bracket group were lower than those in the metal bracket group after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion The application effect of self-ligating brackets and orthodontics in patients with maxillofacial deformities is significant, which can reduce gingival crevice fluid inflammation, reduce the level of related biochemical indicators, and improve the periodontal index of patients.
