Research progress on the pathological mechanism and treatment of keloids
Scar is a common skin lesion caused by surgical incisions, wounds, burns, and other skin lesions that damage the dermis reticular layer. From a pathological perspective,it can be divided into two categories:physiological scars and pathological scars.Physiological scars refer to the normal healing response after skin injury, without obvious discomfort, affecting normal life, and requiring no treatment;Pathological scars mainly include hypertrophic scars and keloids[1].Keloids in pathological scars are considered a benign tumor of the skin, accompanied by excessive proliferation of scar fibroblasts.Their formation mechanism is complex, the cure rate is low,and they are prone to recurrence. They are considered a difficult disease, and their treatment remains a challenge. This paper will provide a review of the pathological mechanisms and treatment research progress of scar formation, especially keloids.
