Research progress in functional treatment of Angle Class Ⅱ malocclusion with mandibular retrusion
Class Ⅱ malocclusion associated with mandibular retrusion is one of the most common malocclusions in clinic. At present, the ideal orthodontic treatment is to use functional appliances to guide mandibular protrusion, promote condyle and joint fossa reconstruction, and correct sagittal dysplasia.Different functional appliances have different effects according to their different mechanisms. The short-term efficacy of functional treatment has been widely proven, and the long-term stability of its effects has been increasingly valued.Based on the latest research progress of functional appliances at home and abroad, this paper reviews the efficacy and long-term stability of functional appliances from the perspective of their types.
