Progress of magnesium phosphate bone cement and its complexes in the repair of bone defects
Biodegradable bone graft materials for bone repair have attracted great interest in modern surgery. After calcium phosphate bone cement(CPC),magnesium phosphate bone cement(MPC)has increasingly become a promising new bone substitute material due to its favorable physicochemical properties, biocompatibility, osteoinductivity, and intrinsic antibacterial property. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the properties and latest applied research of MPC and its complexes, with a focus on the physicochemical and biological properties of MPC,the novel MPC complexes prepared for different clinical purposes described in the literature in recent years, and the latest advances in in vitro and in vivo experiments. This will help to demonstrate the promising results of MPC as a novel bone substitute material in practical applications, and the clinical application prospect of the bone repair material was also prospected.
