Research progress in early prediction and blocking treatment of impacted maxillary teeth
Maxillary canine is one of the most frequently impacted teeth, second only to third molars with the prevalence ranging from 1 to 3 percent. The complications of Impacted maxillary canine include adjacent tooth root loosening, malocclusion and dental cysts. The treatment is difficult with a long period and high cost. Moreover, there are risks of treatment failure and periodontal damage.Early prediction of impacted maxillary canine is conducive to early detection and timely treatment.Interceptive approaches include extraction of primary canine, headgear treatment and maxillary expansion, which can improve the spontaneous eruption rate of maxillary fangs to varying degrees, avoid complex comprehensive orthodontic treatment, and save treatment time and cost.Based on the literature review, the paper summarizes the research progress of early prediction and Interceptive approaches of maxillary impacted canines, hoping to provide references for early detection, diagnosis and treatment of maxillary impacted canines.
