Comparison of clinical efficacy of zirconia and fiber post-core crown in repairing large area defect of teeth
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of zirconia and fiber post core crown in the restoration of large area tooth defect and the effect on inflammatory injury and masticatory function of patients. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 80 patients with extensive dental defects admitted to Zhoukou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2020 to May 2023.Divided by treatment method, the study group(40 cases)received zirconia core crown repair, while the control group(40 cases)received fiber post core crown repair.Compare the clinical efficacy, chewing function, whitening aesthetic effect, and complications between two groups after one year of repair. Results After one year of repair, the qualified rates of adjacent surface contact, surface quality, comfort, and edge fit in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);The bite force and chewing efficiency of both groups were higher than before repair, with the study group higher than the control group. The SDHue value of the mixed degree data of the two groups was lower than before repair, and the study group was lower than the control group(P<0.05);The pink aesthetic index(PES)and white aesthetic index(WES)scores of the research group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in the loosening and detachment rate of 5.00%(2/40),secondary caries rate of 2.5%(1/40),and impaction rate of 5.00%(2/40)between the research group and the control group(1.00%(1/40),secondary caries rate of 2.5%(1/40),and impaction rate of 5.00%(2/40)).Conclusions Zirconia and fiber post core crown repair for large area of dental defects, zirconia core crown repair has better clinical efficacy, not only can reduce the degree of gingival crevicular inflammation damage, but also can improve the masticatory function of patients and pink aesthetic effect, good repair effect.
