Modified Goldmann Flattening Measurement for the Detection and Evaluation of Eyes with the Low Intraocular Pressure Value
Objective:For eyes with the low IOP(intraocular pressure)value(IOP≤5mmHg),the clinical status quo of poor stability and difficulty in measurement, change the initial value of the measurement by reference weights with their companionshi, assist in the feasibility of completing measurements to improve stability and reduce difficulty.Methods:Goldmann-type Tonometers was used to collect the initial value of different measurement pressures(0 digits corresponding to the rotation measuring cylinder pointing to 0,20 and 60 scales)of the subjects,to compare differences in IOP measurements between the three groups and to explore the role of ocular surgery history on IOP.Results:Three sets of the IOP value data of 117 tested eyes(53 eyes in the low pressure group and 64 eyes in the normal group)were compared and analyzed, here was a statistically significant difference between the IOP values of the weights added to the low IOP value group and the measurements without weights. But,it is not clinically significant. Moreover, there was no significant statistical difference between the different weight measurements, and there was no significant statistical difference between the results of the three methods in the normal control group.Further examination showed that the influencing factors were analyzed according to the classification of no surgical history, vitrectomy surgery, and glaucoma surgery, there was no significant statistical difference between the mean the IOP value of the three groups. Conclusion:When Goldmann-type Tonometers measures the normal IOP value, there is no significant difference between the IOP value measured by the eye under different conditions and the IOP value measured when no checking weight is used.there is no significant difference between the IOP value measured by the eye under different conditions and the IOP value measured when no checking weight is used. There was a statistically significant difference in the low IOP eyes,as the maximum difference of 0.23mmHg between groups was not clinically significant. Therefore,in clinical application, for the measurement of the low IOP eye,we can increase the initial value of measurement by using the Refernce weights, reduce the difficulty of measurement.
