The Influence of Different Regions of Interest on Setup Errors in Image-guided Radiation Therapy for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Objective:To compare and analyze the results of manual image registration and automatic image registration under different regions of interest(ROI)in image-guided radiotherapy(IGRT)for nasopharyngeal carcinoma,so as to provide reference for clinical registration. Methods:A retrospective analysis was made of the megavolt electronic portal imaging system(EPID)verification films of 20 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing radiotherapy from June 2021 to June 2023 in the Radiation Therapy Center of Fudan University Shanghai cancer center. The automatic registration of small and medium ROI ranges is grouped, and the set-up error value and inter-group correlation between each group and the control group are analyzed and compared. Results:There were significant differences between the observation group(L)and the control group in the three translation direction errors(P<0.05);The observation group(S)and the control group had significant differences in the VRT and LAT direction errors(P<0.05),there was no significant difference in the LNG direction error value(P=0.6);There was no significant difference in the three translation direction error values between the observation group(M)and the control group. The distribution probabilities of the absolute value of the errors in the three translation directions less than or equal to 2mm in the four registration results are:VRT(80%-98%),LNG(62%-95%),and LAT(85%-97%).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the error values in the three directions between each group were significantly positively correlated with the error values in the same direction in the other three groups, which was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion:Different ROI ranges have a certain impact on the registration results, and there is no significant difference between the observation group(M)and the control group. When applying the automatic registration system,a moderate range of ROI can be selected first, and then manually adjusted according to different actual situations.
