Ultrasound Findings in Children with 75 Pilomatricomas
Objective:To analyze the ultrasonographic features of children pilomatoma and to investigate the diagnostic value of ultrasound. Methods:We retrospectively reviewed the ultrasound scans of pathologically proven pilomatricomas with 75 PM in 73 children and performed over a period of 4 years. We evaluated images for the size of the lesion, borders, morphology, content, calcification, location on the skin and colour Doppler characteristic. Results:Most of the lesions in children with trichommatoma were single(97.3%,71/73).Most lesions occurred in cheek(22.7%)and neck(21.3%).High-frequency ultrasound showed that the lesions were mostly located at the junction of dermis and subcutaneous fat(94.7%,71/75),the shape was round or oval(90.7%,68/75),and most children's PM was solid echo and mixed echo(97.3%,73/75).internal echo of most PM was uneven, and mixed with high and low echo,and(82.7%,62/75)were accompanied by calcification, and about half of the PM were accompanied by low echo halos changes in(48.0%,36/75).Conclusion:We showed that the calcification and hypoechoic rim are the characteristic ultrasonic findings of children PM,and familiarity with the ultrasonic findings is helpful to improve the diagnostic coincidence rate.
