Clinical Significance of Red Blood Cell Parameters Detected by Automatic Blood Cell Analyzer in the Diagnosis of Thalassemia
Objective:To analyze the diagnostic significance of red blood cell parameters detected by automatic blood cell analyzer in children with thalassemia at different ages.Methods:100 children who received medical treatment at Shangyou County People's Hospital from May 2022 to May 2023 were selected as the research subjects. The thalassemia gene was detected and grouped according to whether they carried the thalassemia gene. The control group(80 cases)did not carry the thalassemia gene, and the observation group(20 cases)carried the thalassemia gene. The blood routine tests were carried out by the same five category automatic blood cell analyzer. The blood routine indexes of the two groups were compared, and the effect of red blood cell parameters in the diagnosis of thalassemia was analyzed. Results:Compared with the control group, the observation group had higher platelet count, red blood cell count, platelet distribution width, lower average red blood cell volume, hemoglobin, average red blood cell hemoglobin concentration and average red blood cell hemoglobin content(P<0.05).The area under the operating characteristic curve of the mean corpuscular volume was higher than the mean corpuscular hemoglobin content.Under the optimal screening threshold, the mean corpuscular volume had the highest sensitivity and hemoglobin specificity. Conclusion:The mean red blood cell volume, hemoglobin and other red blood cell parameters can assist in the diagnosis of thalassemia and improve the diagnostic effect.
