CT Manifestations of Cervical Thyroid Congenital Absence with Ectopic Lingual Thyroid
Objective:To investigate the diagnostic value of CT findings for cervical thyroid congenital absence with ectopic lingual thyroid.Methords:Retrospectively analyzed of clinical data of 15 patients with ectopic lingual thyroid admitted to Jinjiang Municipal Hospital from April 2013 to October 2023.Results:15 patients were mainly adult females.Ultrasound and CT findings:absence of thyroid in the anterior neck area,ectopic thyroid located in the center of the tongue root,circular,elliptical or irregular in shape,with a diameter of about 2.0-3.5cm.CT plain scan CT value were about 63-153Hu,enhanced scanning shows increased and thickened blood supply arteriesand,the solid part were significantly enhanced and slow washout,the cystic necrotic area were no enhancement.12 cases of hypothyroidism,3 cases of normal thyroid hormones,and none of hyperthyroidism.The lesion size was negatively correlated with oropharyngeal cross-sectional area,and positively correlated with clinical symptoms,P<0.05.2 cases showed nodular goiter,1 case had papillary carcinoma,and the remaining 12 cases showed no significant changes during regular follow-up.Conclusion:High-density mass in the tongue root with thyroid deficiency in the anterior cervical region may highly suspicious of lingual ectopic thyroid.Typical CT imagings help with diagnosis and aclinical treatment.
