Comparative Analysis of Right Heart Contrast Echocardiography and Transthoracic Echocardiography in the Diagnosis of Patent Foramen Ovale
Objective:To investigate the clinical value of right transthoracic contrast echocardiography(cTTE)in the diagnosis of patent foramen ovale(PFO).Methods:A total of 53 patients with suspected PFO admitted to our hospital from March 2023 to January 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent transthoracic echocardiogram(TTE)and cTTE examination, and the results of cTTE examination were used as the"gold standard".The diagnostic results, sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and positive predictive value of the two methods were compared. Results:Among the 53 suspected PFO patients,38 were diagnosed with TTE.45 cases were diagnosed by cTTE.The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and positive predictive value of cTTE were 93.33%(42/45),87.50%(7/8),92.45%(49/53)and 97.67(42/43),respectively,which were higher than those of TTE(77.78%,62.50%,75.47%and 92.11%),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Contrast echocardiography can provide more accurate and reliable diagnostic basis in the clinical application of patent foramen ovale, which can improve the diagnostic accuracy.
