Performance Evaluation Methods Based on Spectral Fitting for Near-Infrared Fluorescence Imaging
The use of near-infrared fluorescence imaging with indocyanine green in surgery and research is becoming increasingly widespread.Nowadays, the performance test methods for near-infrared fluorescence imaging have the problems of bad repeatability and untraceability. In order to address the emerging need for standardization of near-infrared fluorescence imaging systems,it is necessary to identify the best methods suitable for objective, quantitative testing of image quality characteristics.Based on fluorescence imaging literature,we have developed and demonstrated three test methods for evaluation of fluorescence image quality, which are based upon simulation of near-infrared fluorescence. These methods have the potential to facilitate other quantitative comparison of device performance, with the long-term goal of establishing standards for fluorescence image quality assessment.
