Comparative Analysis of 1470nm Wavelength Radial Laser Ablation and Radiofrequency Ablation in the Treatment of Varicose Veins of the Lower Extremities
Objective:This study aims to compare the short-term efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) using a 1470nm wavelength for the treatment of varicose veins. Methods:The study included 43 patients (83 limbs) treated with 1470nm radial EVLA and 37 patients (64 limbs) treated with RFA from June 2023 to February 2024. All patients underwent Doppler ultrasound examinations at 1 month and 3 months post-operation. Results:The baseline of clinical characteristics were similar between the two groups except for age. There were no significant differences in pain scores from the 6th hour to the 30th day post-operation,as well as in complications and the time to resume normal activities. During the follow-up period of 1 month and 3 months, both treatment methods achieved a closure rate of 100%. Conclusion:In the short term, the efficacy of 1470nm radial EVLA and RFA in treating varicose veins is comparable.
