Comparative Analysis of Skin Microscopy Results Between Rosacea and Other Skin Diseases
Objective:To compare the results of skin microscopy examination between rosacea and other skin diseases. Methods:260 patients from the outpatient dermatology department of Tianjin Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital were selected from December 2021 to December 2023. Among them,160 patients with rosacea were selected as the study group, and 100 patients with other skin diseases (acne, lupus erythematosus, seborrheic dermatitis, etc. ) were selected as the control group. Both groups of patients underwent dermatoscopy examination, and the differences in dermatoscopy results between the two groups were compared. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed on the differential factors between the two groups with confirmed rosacea as the dependent variable, and the diagnostic efficacy of dermatoscopy for rosacea was finally calculated. Results:There was a statistically significant difference (P<0.05) in the vascular morphology (polygonal vessels, atypical vessels),background color, vascular arrangement, scales, papules and pustules (with pustules),hair follicle horn plugs (with oil droplet like halos around hair follicles and white halos around hair follicles),pigmentation, and lesion location (mandible, nose) between the study group and the control group; The factors influencing the diagnosis of rosacea include polygonal blood vessels, background color, vascular arrangement, presence of pustules, oil droplet like halos around hair follicles, and the location of skin lesions on the nose (P<0.05);The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of dermatoscopy for the diagnosis of rosacea were 95.63% (152/160),96.00% (96/100),95.77% (249/260),97.45% (153/157),and 93.20% (96/103),respectively. Conclusion:There are various differences between rosacea and other skin diseases (acne, lupus erythematosus, seborrheic dermatitis, etc. ) in the results of skin microscopy examination, such as polygonal blood vessels, reticular blood vessel arrangement, etc. This dermatoscopy can be used to complete the differential diagnosis of rosacea and has good diagnostic efficacy.
