X-ray Diagnosis and Differential Diagnosis of Melorheostosis:Report of 2 Cases and Literature Review
Objective To discuss the clinical and X-ray imaging manifestations of Melorheostosis. Methods A statistical analysis based on total 50 cases of data from clinical and X-ray imaging manifestations of Meloheostosis, including 2 of our sample cases and 48 selected cases reported on domestic document among the year of 1990 to 2012. Result The Melorheostosis is rare and of no obvious difference in gender. It occurs mainly at an age between 11 and 40. The performance of pathology is of irregular osteosclerosis, the form of which likes the shape change of wax oil dripping. The pathology mainly appears on limb of tubular bones, of which the right side limb is more than the left, the upper is more than the lower, and Cortex and its inside is more than its outside, yet surrounding soft tissues and joints involvement appears less. Conclusion Melorheostosis can be correctly diagnosed by clinical manifestation and radiographic imaging as its typical feature of X-ray appearance.
