Study on the effect of levothyroxine sodium in the treatment of elderly patients with primary hypothyroidism
Objective To study the clinical effect and safety of levothyroxine sodium in the treatment of elderly patients with primary hypothyroidism. Methods 24 elderly patients with primary hypothyroidism who were treated with levothyroxine sodium in our hospital from September 2010 to May 2011 were selected as observation group, and 24 patients who were treated with thyroid tablet at the same time were selected as observation group, then the total effective rates and adverse reactions rates after the treatment at third and sixth month and total effective rate with different severity degree of two groups were compared. Results The total effective rates of observation group after the treatment at third and sixth month were both higher than those of control group, adverse reactions rates were lower than those of control group, total effective rates with different severity degree were higher than those of control group, all P <0.05, there were all significant differences. Conclusion The clinical effective rate of levothyroxine sodium in the treatment of elderly patients with primary hypothyroidism is higher, while the adverse reactions rate is lower, so its comprehensive effect is better.
