Effect of Inositol Hexaphosphate on Proliferation and Apoptosis of Human Malignant Glioblastoma U118MG Cells
Objective In order to study the antiproliferative effects on Human glioma cells(U118MG) induced by phytic acid(IP6) and to shed new light on the mechanism of action. Methods We use the U118MG human glioma cell line as a model and examined the antiproliferation effects on U118MG cells treated with IP6 by MTT reduction assays. Western blot test Bcl-2, Caspase-3, p53 protein level. Results Our results indicated that IP6 induces antiproliferative effects in a concentration-dependent manner(P<0.05). Furthermore, IP6 inhibited the expression of Bcl-2 protein followed by activation of Caspase-3 and p53(P<0.05). Conclusions Accordingly, IP6 could inhibit U118MG cell proliferation and induce cell apoptosis. Bcl-2, Caspase-3, and p53 proteins may be involved in apoptosis mechanism on U118MG cells induced by IP6.
