Expression of MUC2 and MUC5AC Colorectal adenocarcinoma and Their Clinical Significance
Objective To investigate the relation between the expression of MUC2 and MUC5AC in colorectal adenocarcinoma and its clinical pathological parameters. Methods The expression of MUC2, MUC5AC were detected in 20 colorectal adenomas and 60 colorectal adenocarcinomas by immunohistochemical method. Results In 20 colorectal adenoma and 60 colorectal adenocarcinomas the positive expression rates of MUC2 were 100% and 58.3%(P=0.000) respectively. MUC2 expression in colorectal adenocarcinoma was positive correlated to the survival period(P=0.008), negative correlated to the depth of invasion(P=0.009), lymph node metastasis(P=0.001), Dukes staging(P=0.002). The expression rates of MUC5AC were 30% and 46.7%(P=0.296) respectively, MUC5AC expression in colorectal adenocarcinoma was positive correlated to differentiation(P=0.005), negative correlated to the depth of invasion(P=0.039). MUC2 and MUC5AC no correlation. Conclusions The down-regulation of MUC2 expression may be involved in carcinogenesis. And it is very important to predict the prognosis in colorectal adenocarcinomas.
