Objective To approach 3.0T MRI characteristics of prostate cancer(PCA) in peripheral zone. Methods 3.0T MRI findings of 32 cases with PCA in peripheral zone verified by operation and needle biopsy were analyzed retrospectively. Resules There are some direct sign of PCA in peripheral zone including showing tubercle or diffuse hypointensity on T2-weighted image and destruction of normal alveolus structure as well as encroachment of prostate envelope. There are some indirect sign of PCA in peripheral zone including metastasis of seminal vesicle, neurovascular bundles, bladder, rectum, lymph nodes and bone. Conclusion 3.0T MRI is valuable in diagnosing PCA in peripheral zone.
