Improvement on chick embryo methods for anti-angiogenesis drugs screening
Objective To establish improved and universally applicable methods of chick embryo model for anti-angiogenesis drugs screening. Methods We changed traditional window place of chick embryonic chorioallantoic membrane(CAM) assays, model. Drug carrier and methods for observation and statistics analysis were also improved in both arrays. Endostar were used to test and evaluate whether these changes were effective. Results Angiogenesis in CAM and the yolk sac membrane(YSM) assays were significantly inhibited by Endostar, which was consistent with previous reports. The growth rates of blood vessel area and density between Endostar and control groups were also tested and has statistical significance(P <0.01). Conclusion Our results demonstrate that we have established two effective models. These are therefore two very useful and cost effective in vivo models for screening of potential novel therapeutics.
