The relationship between hyperhomocysteinemia and cerebral infarction and carotid stenosis
Objective To study the relationship between hyperhomocysteinemia(HHcy) and carotid stenosis. Methods Plasma homocysteine(Hcy) levels were measured by circulating enzymatic for 90 cases of acute cerebral infarction(ACI) patients plasma Hcy concentration, Using color doppler ultrasonic detection of carotid artery, Compared with normal control group. Result ACI group plasma Hcy level was significantly higher than normal control group(P<0.001), In the ACI group, the levels of Hcy in patients with severe carotid stenosis were signif-icantly higher than those in patients with moderated carotid stenosis and mild carotid stenosis or without carotid stenosis(P<0.01), and the levels of Hcy in patients with moderated carotid stenosis were significantly higher than those in patients with mild carotid stenosis or without carotid stenosis(P<0.01). Conclusion Hcy levels and the severity of cerebral infarction in patients with carotid stenosis.
