The diagnostic value of procalcitonin in Bacterial infection
Objective To analyze the diagnostic value of procalcitonin in Bacterial infection. Methods To patients admitted to hospital with clinical symptoms of infection collect their venous blood to detect PCT, and collect the corresponding site of infection specimens for culture and identification; Further cultured pathogen-positive results are grouped based on clinical manifestations, divided into sepsis(blood culture positive or clear clinical diagnosis) and local infection(not sepsis, but there is a partial positive bacterial culture); Negative control group are 30 normal healthy people, and collected their blood to detect PCT; The results between groups were analyzed by t test. ROC curve to evaluate the value of early diagnosis of bacterial infection. Results PCT concentration of the bacteria positive group was significantly higher than control group. T-test shows a significant difference between culture-positive group(Sepsis group and local infection group) and control group. The area under ROC curve of PCT concentration was 0.985, when the best critical value was 0.06ng/ml, the sensitivity and specificity of auxiliary diagnosis of bacterial infection were 97.4% and 93.3%, respectively. Conclusion PCT was originally an important indicator of infection, it can not only early predict sepsis, but also predict other local infection.
