The experience in treatment of gluteal muscle contracture with sciatic nerve entrapment
Objective To explore the clinical treatment and the observation of the curative effect of the gluteal muscle contracture with sciatic nerve entrapment. Methods From June 2007 to June 2011, 11 cases of gluteal muscle contracture were treated by surgery, 4 hips in 2 cases with obvious sciatic nerve entrapment, all of which had sciatic nerve released completely. All of the cases were located double glutea. Results All patients achieved healing by the first intention. Postoperative last follow-up in cases with gluteal muscle contracture signs disappear, 2 cases (four hips) with lower sensory dysfunction, decreased muscle strength were improved; with an excellent and good rate of 92.86%. Conclusion Thoroughly loosening the the contracture band and sciatic nerve with hip flexion, adduction and pronation, which has a positive effect after the operation.
