The analyses of therapeutic effect of pedicle screw fixation used to treat 36 patie-nts who have fractures in thoracic and lumbar vertebrae
Objective To discuss the therapeutic effect of pedicle screw fixation used to treat fractures in thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. Methods 36 patients who have fractures from the tenth thoracic vertebrae to the third lumbar vertebrae were chosen to be operated with pedicle screw fixation. These respects were analysed after operation such as the functions of nerves, the degree of the Cobb angle and the ratio of the height of injured vertebral body and the normal ones. Also these respects of this group were compared with those of the other group which were used ordinary strategies. Results The function of lumbar vertebrae of most patients were recovered. Compared with the condition before operation, all things had been improved in the respects mentioned(P <0.01). Compared with the ordinary group one year after operations, there were obvious differences in those respects mentioned(P <0.01). Conclusion Pedicle screw fixation can make the functions of most injured lumbar vertebrae to be recovered, but can not reach the level of normal ones.
