Clinical efficacy of mometasone furoate nasal spray combined with desloratadine in treatment of children with seasonal allergic rhinitis
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of mometasone furoate nasal spray combined with desloratadine in the treatment of children with seasonal allergic rhinitis. Methods A total of 114 children with seasonal allergic rhinitis admitted to Hangzhou Children's Hospital from October 2023 to January 2024 were enrolled in this study and divided into the combination treatment group and the single treatment group according to the random number table method, with 57 in each group.Children in the single treatment group were only treated with desloratadine oral solution and those in the combination treatment group were treated with desloratadine oral solution and mometasone furoate nasal spray. The clinical treatment effect, percentage change of eosinophils before and after treatment and the rate of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the combination treatment group was higher than that of the single treatment group(96.49%(55/57)vs 85.96%(49/57)),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=3.946,P<0.05).After treatment, the percentage of eosinophils in the combination treat-ment group was lower than that of the single treatment group((9.92±2.06)%vs(14.28±2.25)%;t=10.791,P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the rate of adverse reactions between the combination treatment group(1.75%(1/57))and the single treatment group(3.51%(2/57))(χ2=0.342,P>0.05).Conclusion Desloratadine oral solution combined with mometasone furoate nasal spray is effective and safe in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis in children.
