Effect of diquafosol sodium eye drops on ocular surface and tear film stability in patients with dry eye syndrome
Objective To explore the clinical effect of 3%diquafosol sodium eye drops in the treatment of dry eye syndrome and its effect on the stability of the tear film on the ocular surface.Methods One hundred and twenty six patients(252 eyes)with dry eye syndrome admitted to Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University from March to August 2023 were selected as the subjects,and grouped using random number table method.The 63 patients in the observation group(126 eyes)were given 3%diquafosol sodium eye drops and other 63 in the control group(126 eyes)were given 0.3%sodium hyaluronate eye drops.The treatment effective rate,corneal fluorescence staining(CFS)score,daily eye symptom questionnaire(DEQS)score,tear film breakup time(BUT),tear secretion test(SIT),meibomian gland function and conjunctival score were compared between the two groups.Results The clinical effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control(93.65%(118/126)vs 82.53%(104/126),χ2=7.416,P<0.05).After treatment,a reduction in CFS,DEQS,meibomian gland function and conjunctival scores was found in both groups,and the scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control((1.29±0.24)scores vs(1.52±0.36)scores,(3.12±0.44)scores vs(3.49±0.48)scores,(1.46±0.31)scores vs(1.57±0.36)scores,(1.12±0.28)scores vs(1.29±0.32)scores,t=5.967,6.378,2.599,4.487,all P<0.05).BUT and SⅠT showed a decrease in all patients and they were higher in the observation group than in the control((5.94±1.62)s vs(5.13±1.47)s,(11.10±3.62)mm·5 min-1 vs(10.18±3.31)mm·5 min-1,t=4.156,2.105,both P<0.05).Conclusion The 3%diquafosol sodium eye drops have significant efficacy in the treatment of patients with dry eye syndrome.It can effectively repair ocular surface damage,promote the stability of the tear film and improve eye symptoms and subjective feelings.
