By adding spatial location information to gene expression analysis,spatial transcriptomics provides a new perspective for biological research,especially in exploring cellular aging and organ function decline.This review summarizes the application of spatial transcriptomics in brain aging,skin aging,and other organ systems,and discusses its important role in uncovering the mechanisms of aging.The novel algorithms and statistical methods used in these studies have improved our ability to parse biological information hidden within spatial data.These findings not only deepen our understanding of the aging process but also offer potential targets for the development of new therapeutic strategies.In the future,spatial transcriptomics is expected to play an even more crucial role in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of aging and in the development of treatments for age-related diseases.
