Objective This study aims to investigate the clinical value of using blue laser linked color imaging technology detecting the infection of Hp by targeted biopsy in chronic atrophic gastritis. Methods A total of 100 patients with the endoscopic diagnosis of chronic atrophic gastritis admitted to the Sixth Affiliated Hospital due to upper digestive symptoms during December 2021 and November 2023 were recruited in the research. Then they were divided into study group (LCI)and control group (white light imaging,WLI).Their basic information, endoscopic manifestations of gastric mucosa and result of 13C-urea breath test(13C-UBT),rapid urease test(RUT)and histology were studied and compared among groups and subgroups. Results There were no significant differences in age, gender and the degree of mucosa atrophy between the study group and control group (P>0.05).Choosing abnormal redness as the endoscopic diagnostic criteria of Hp infection, the diagnosis accuracy evaluated by LCI was significantly higher than that from WLI group (90.0% vs.56.0%,P<0.05).The diagnosis accuracy of Hp infection evaluated by LCI combined with RUT was similar to that from the WLI group, with no significant difference(80.0% vs.82.0%,P>0.05).The diagnosis accuracy of Hp infection evaluated by LCI combined with histology was higher than that from the WLI group (90.0% vs.68.0%,P<0.05).For the patients diagnosed as mild atrophy, the diagnosis accuracy of histology conducted by LCI was higher than that conducted by WLI(89.5% vs.75.0%,P>0.05).For the patients diagnosed as moderate to severe atrophy, the diagnosis accuracy of histology conducted by LCI was significantly higher than that conducted by WLI(90.3% vs.63.3%,P<0.05).Conclusions Compared with WLI,the LCI-targeted biopsy can improve the accuracy in the histopathological diagnosis of Hp infection in chronic atrophic gastritis by targeted biopsy. In addition, the advantage of LCI-targeted biopsy model is more obvious for patients with severe atrophy.
