Objective To analyze the incidence and disease burden of maternal abortion in China in 1990 and 2019.Methods The 2019 Global Burden of Disease database was used to analyze the incidence of miscarriage,disability-adjusted life(DALY),and life lost for premature death(YLL)in the total maternal population and different age groups in China in 1990 and 2019.Results In 2019,the number of maternal miscarriages in China was 5149600,and the incidence rate was 7382600 per 100000,a decrease of 56.64% and 64.35% respectively from 1990.In 2019,the DALY and DALY rates of maternal abortion in China were 56.003 million person-years and 0.80/100000,respectively,a decrease of 91.90% and 93.36% from 1990.In 2019,the age group with the highest maternal incidence rate and DALY rate was 20~24 years old, followed by 25~29 years old and 30~34 years old.In 2019,the standardized incidence rate of maternal abortion in China was 822.82/100000,and the standardized DALY rate was 0.88/100000,which was significantly lower than the global average(1098.36/100000 and 28.86/100000).Conclusion The disease burden of miscarriage among pregnant and postpartum women in China has significantly decreased between 1990 and 2019,In addition to the childbearing age,the proportion of abortion rate in the 15~19 years old group cannot be ignored. Therefore, intervention measures should be developed to focus on this age group and strengthen the popularization of sexual education knowledge for minors,in order to further reduce the disease burden of miscarriage among pregnant and postpartum women.
